Bonaire by virtue of a hard fought 2-1 victory over the U S Virgin Islands (USVI) last Sunday at the Montserrat Football Complex in Montserrat, are joint leaders of Group 1 of the 2014 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Men’s Cup.
Scoring for the winners were Yurick Seinpaal in the 5th minute and Josef Beaumont in the 11th while MacDonald Talor Jr scored for the USVI in the 87th minute making it tense at the end as the USVI knew a draw would have left them in a more favorable position with Bonaire having a game in hand.
13 goals were scored in two games as French Guiana beat Turks and Caicos 6-0 at the Complejo Deportivo Guillermo Prospero Trinidad Stadium in Aruba; and the host defeated the British Virgin Islands 7-0 in Group 2 action.
Gabriel Pigree secured his hat-trick by netting in the 29th, 48th and 90th, minute, Fabrice Awong netted in the 59th and 62nd minute while Kelly Louima scored an own goal to bring the total to six goals for French Guiana.
Aruba feeding off their home crowd wasted no time in dismissing the Turks and Caicos Islands as goals came as early as the second minute thanks to Rensy Barradas, Annaur Kock in the 20th, a hat-trick by Dwayne Raven in the 22nd 52nd and 61st and Jelano Cruden and Erick Santos in the 85th and 90th respectively.
The last set of games in these two groups will be played on Tuesday, June 3, 2014.
