Trinidad and Tobago Scores Big in CFU Women’s Caribbean Cup

Port of Spain, Trinidad - Host Trinidad & Tobago recorded a large victory over St. Kitts & Nevis. While Martinique opened their group B account with a victory over Antigua & Barbuda.

Hosts Trinidad and Tobago whipped St Kitts and Nevis 10-0 last night in the Soca Princesses opening Group B match in the inaugural Women’s Caribbean Cup final. The home crowd at the Hasely Crawford Stadium can be proud of their women who opened the scoring early in the 3rd minute of play.

Scoring for the Soca Warriors were Kenya Cordner in the 3rd and 7th minute, Tasha St Louis in the 6th,10th and 22nd, Janine François in the 55th and 59th while Maylee Attin Johnson, Mariah Shade and Dernelle Mascall netted in the 12th 44th and 68th minutes respectively.

In the early encounter of the day Martinique got pass Antigua & Barbuda 2-0 at this same venue. Both goals were scored by Prisca Carin in the 12th and 64th minute.

The Antigua team started off promising in the early minutes as they pressured Martinique, But a mistake at the back was all it took for Martinique's Prisca Carin to score in the 12th minute.

The Antigua team came close to equalizing in the 40th minute when Marley Jarvis whipped in a free kick from outside the 18 yard box which hit the post.

In the second half Martinique tried to control most of the ball possession as the Antigua team came out more aggressive. But to no avail Martinique scored once again from corner kick as Prisca Carin doubled her account as she scored from close range.

Games are scheduled to continue today August 21th, with the staging of two Group A games. The first game will be played at 5:00pm between Bermuda and Jamaica while the second game at 7:15pm will see Puerto Rico playing Haiti.
