Haiti and Jamaica are now locked with six points in Group A of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) inaugural Women’s Caribbean Cup final rounds after defeating their opponents in games played at the Ato Bolton Stadium, in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday August 21.
Jamaica defeated Bermuda 9-1 while Haiti turned back Puerto Rico 4-0. Jamaica scored as early as in the 5th minute with a goal from ace forward Donnakay Henry, Alicia Wilson netted in the 28th minute followed by four strikes from the prolific Shakira Duncan in the 32nd, 45th, 47th and 76th minute, Venicia Reid in the 78th and Henry completing her double in the 92nd minute.
Shuntae Todd scored the lone goal for Bermuda in the 70th minute and her teammate Keunna Dill scored an own goal which was awarded to the Jamaicans. Scoring for the Haitians were Yvrose Gervil in the 9th, Kencia Marshall in the 47th, Samantha Brand in the 75th and Marie Yves Dina Jean Pierre in the 79th.
Group B games are scheduled to continue today at the Hasely Crawford Stadium when St Kitts and Nevis face Martinique at5:00pm and Trinidad and Tobago entertains Antigua and Barbuda at 7:15pm.
