Kadijah “Bunny” Shaw scored twice in the Jamaica Reggae Girlz’s final warm-up game against Scotland before the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The final score was 3-2 in favor of Scotland, but the Jamaican women, playing on the road, made the Scots work hard before a home crowd of over 18,500.
It was the first defeat in seven matches for the Reggae Girlz, who in position 53 are ranked 33 places below Scotland.
Shaw opened the scoring in minute 15 and Scotland responded via Erin Cuthbert in the 30th, and Caroline Weir gave her side the half-time advantage in the 35th.
Shaw pulled Jamaica level with a 49’ strike after she dispossessed Sophie Howard. Howard make up for her error in the 68’ with a header, and Scotland would hang on for the win.
The Reggae Girlz’s next stop is France, for the World Cup, the first team from the Caribbean to achieve the feat. The Jamaica Football Federation congratulated the team following the match, calling the level of play outstanding.
