CFU 2015 Club Championship Games Begin Today

Today, April 15 is the date set for the start of the 2015 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Club Championship when fifteen teams from nine Member Associations in the region, vies for the three top places up for grabs in the 2015 CONCACAF Champions League.

This is the 17th edition of one of the Caribbean Football Union’s seasonal event.

The competing teams are Alpha United and Guyana Defence Force (Guyana), SAP FC (Antigua and Barbuda), Central FC and Direct TV W Connection FC (Trinidad &Tobago), Inter Moengotapoe and SV Excelsior (Suriname), Waterhouse FC and Montego Bay United FC (Jamaica), Helenites Sporting Club (US Virgin Islands), Club Sportif and Unite Sainte Rose (Guadeloupe), Lyford Cay FC (Bahamas), America FC and Don Bosco FC de Petion Ville (Haiti).

Five teams will make their debut competing in this event, they are Central FC, America FC, Montego Bay United, SV Excelsior and Lyford Cay FC.

The fifteen teams have been grouped into four groups. In Group 1 there are three teams Alpha United FC, Inter Moengotapoe FC and Central FC. Today Alpha United FC meets Inter Moengotapoe at the Providence Stadium in Guyana at 4:00pm.

Group 2 has four teams, SAP FC, Direct TV W Connection FC, Waterhouse and Guyana Defence Force FC. Today at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago Sap Football Club faces Waterhouse FC at 5:30pm and at 8:00pm Direct TV WConnection plays Guyana Defence Force at this same venue.

Group 3 has four teams Montego Bay United FC, America FC, Club Sportif FC and SV Excelsior FC. Today’s games will be Montego Bay United Versus Club Sportif Moulien at 3:30pm on the grounds of the Complexe Sportif Des Cays in Haiti and at 6:00pm America Football Club encounters SV Excelsior.

In Group 4 there are four teams as well, namely Helenites Sports Club, Don Bosco FC, Unite Sainte Rose FC and Lyford Cay FC. In the first game to be played at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Haiti at 4:00pm, Helenites Sporting Club meets Unite Sainte Rose while at 6:30pm Don Bosco FC entertains Lyford Cay FC in the feature game at this same venue.

Teams will play games simultaneously with the final round played as a straight knock-out to crown the champion. At the end of these games the three top teams will qualify for the 2015 CONCACAF Champions League.
