2 TINY ISLANDS, 2 MATCHES, 3 CONFEDERATIONS
With the World Cup in Brazil starting on the 12th of June 2014, two tiny islands from two different associations are playing against each other, showing how global football has turned out to be.
While the focus will be on the usual favorites for the World Cup like Spain, Brazil, Argentina and Germany, FIFA members Aruba (CONCACAF) and Guam (AFC) will be facing each other on the 27th of March and on the 30th of March.
These countries are used to play against other nations from their own confederations. Aruba (currently ranked 162nd) and Guam (currently ranked 173rd) will be playing to improve their FIFA ranking.
The World Cup will be the greatest event of the year, but for the players of both Aruba and Guam, the two matches will be a historical one.
Since this match can be considered a match of the CONCACAF versus the AFC, the referees will all come from CONMEBOL member Venezuela.
Fixtures will be:
- March 27th , 2014 8:00 PM Aruba vs Guam Stadion Guillermo Trinidad
- March 30th, 2014 8:00 PM Aruba vs Guam Stadion Guillermo Trinidad
