Games are scheduled to continue today, Tuesday, October 21, in Haiti as Group A of the Final Round of the 2014 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Men’s Under-17 Qualifiers gets into its second day at the Sylvio Cator Stadium in Port-Au-Prince.
Trinidad & Tobago and Barbados will face off in a crucial game having lost to their opponents in their opening games. They will play at 4:00pm while Haiti and St Lucia with three points each, gained from their first game will battle for leadership in this group at 6:30pm.
Meanwhile, in Group B games played at this same venue yesterday, Monday, October 20, Jamaica defeated Martinique 4-0 and defending champions Cuba outplayed Guadeloupe 5-0.
Scoring for Jamaica were Alex Marshall taking the half time score to 1-0. In the second half Fabian Grant netted in the 75th minute, Nicholas Nelson took the score line to 3-0 in the 84th while Deshane Beckford made his contribution in the 90 plus minute ending the game 4-0.
Yordan Sanchez opened the score sheet for Cuba in the 23rd minute followed by Serguey Campillo in the 41st, Raycharle Herrera in the 45th , Carlos Borromeo in the 47th and Omar Romero in the 69th.
Eight teams placed in Groups A and B are competing for a place in the CONCACAF Under- 17 Championship scheduled to be staged in Honduras in 2015.
The teams are Group A; St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, Haiti and Barbados; while Cuba, Jamaica, Guadeloupe and Martinique forms Group B.
