Trinidad and Tobago Win CFU Under 20 Championship

It took a second half hat-trick from the prolific Kadeem Corbin, for Trinidad & Tobago to blank Haiti 3-0 and grab the 2014 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Men’s Under 20 Qualifiers Championship, on Friday September 19, at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, in Trinidad and Tobago.

The first forty-five minutes failed to produce much scoring opportunities which saw the half ending goalless, however the young Soca Warriors regrouped and came out with a different game plan and in the 54th minute Corbin struck his first goal. Despite the efforts of the Haitians to level the score and keep their opponents at bay, Corbin netted his second goal in the 82nd minute and completed his hat-trick in the 86th minute for a comfortable 3-0 triumph. Meanwhile, in the third and fourth play-off Cuba edged out Aruba 2-1.

Cuba went ahead in the second half with a goal from Eddie Luis Sanamė in the 54th minute. Ricky Hodges drew level for Aruba in the 85th minute. But the Cubans rallied and three minutes later found the clincher when Frank Manuel Lopez netted and ended the game 2-1.

At the distribution of awards ceremony, Trinidad and Tobago’s Kadeem Corbin copped the Golden Boots and MVP Award. The Golden Gloves Award went to Jean Marc Antersijn from Aruba while the Fair Play Award went to Team Aruba.
