Cuba started off with a bang in the opening game in Group 1 of the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under 17 Qualifiers defeating the Cayman Islands 6-0, at the Estadio Panamericano San Cristobal, in Dominican Republic, on Wednesday, July 15.
In the second game played at this same venue host Dominican Republic blanked the Bahamas 2-0.
Over in Haiti in Group 2 action Curacao lost 6-1 to Bermuda at the Stade Sylvio Cator.
In Suriname, where Group 4 is being hosted, Jamaica beat Barbados 2-1 and Suriname defeated St Lucia 5-0 at the DR IR Franklin Essed Stadium.
Games continues tomorrow, July 17, when Cuba meets the Bahamas in Group 1 action at 2:00pm and Dominican Republic take on the Cayman Islands at 4:30pm. Both games will be played at the Estadio Panamericano San Cristobal.
In Group 2 Haiti encounters Curacao at 6:00pm on the grounds of the Stade Sylvio Cator.
In Group 4 action at the DR. IR. Franklin Essed Stadium Jamaica challenges St Lucia at 3:30pm and Suriname entertains Barbados at 6:00pm.
The date for the start of the Group 3 games will be published soon.
The Final Round is scheduled to be staged in Puerto Rico starting November 13 -16, and will be separated into two Groups A and B.
The two top teams emerging from this competition will join hosts Grenada and the other teams from the CONCACAF region to compete in the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship in Grenada in 2016.
