Cuba continued to dominate Group 1 in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Women’s Under 17 Qualifiers by defeating the Bahamas 5-1 at the Estadio Panamericano San Cristobal, in Dominican Republic, on Friday, July 17.
The Cayman Islands was edged out 3-2 by host Dominican Republic at this same venue in the feature game of the day
Haiti defeated Curacao 7-1 in Group 2 in their clash at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Haiti.
Meanwhile in Suriname it was goals galore when Jamaica met St Lucia at the DR IR Franklin Essed Stadium in
Group 4 action. The game ended 14 -0 in favour of Jamaica. In the other game played at this same venue Barbados got by Suriname 2-1.
Games will continue on Sunday, July 19, when the last sets of games will be played in these groups.
The Bahamas meets the Cayman Islands in Group 1 at 2:00pm while Dominican Republic entertains Cuba at 4:30pm.
Haiti plays Bermuda at 6:00pm in Group 2.
In Group 4 St Lucia encounters Barbados at 3:30pm and at 6:00pm Suriname challenges Jamaica.
The Final Round is scheduled to be staged in Puerto Rico starting November 13 -16, and will be separated into two Groups A and B.
The two top teams emerging from this competition will join hosts Grenada and the other teams from the CONCACAF region to compete in the CONCACAF Women’s U-17 Championship in Grenada in 2016.
