Jamaica beat Haiti to win CFU Women’s U17 title

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – Jamaica defeated Haiti 2-1 in the championship match of the Caribbean Football Union Women’s U 17 competition on Sunday night.

The match began with a high tempo as the Jamaican women went ahead in the 3rd minute with a strike from Shayla Smart. Haiti would begin to control possession during the first half, but Jamaica held out to lead 1-0 at the half.

Jamaica doubled the lead in the 67th minute when Jody Brown scored. Haiti would again raise their game and were able to pull back a goal from Nerilia Mondesir in the 71th minute. The goal was, however, not enough as Jamaica secured the 2 -1 victory.
