MAYAGUEZ, Puerto Rico  (April 24, 2022)—Guadeloupe’s AS Gosier secured a third-place finish in the 2022 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield when they defeated Jong Holland of Suriname 2-0 on Sunday. The game was a rematch of the group stage encounter, at which time the teams finished nil-all.

This time, AS Gosier put distance between themselves and the opponents, finishing the competition third behind champions Bayermon FC of Puerto Rico and second-placed Inter Moengo Tapoe of Suriname.

During their last encounter, both teams were locked at 0-0 until the 52’ when on a corner kick Yohan Nandkissori followed up his saved header to nudge home a goal amid a scramble to clear the ball for a 1-0 lead.

Jong Holland, however, sought to respond with an equalizer but, instead, AS Gosier added an insurance goal in the 68’ via a free kick from Ronan Popote, who scored from distance to seal the 2-0 victory.
