Statement from Caribbean Football Union President on COVID-19

Published on 19 March 2020

Bridgetown, Barbados (March 18th, 2020) – This global pandemic Covid-19 has already come ashore to Member Associations. Most countries have reported cases, and for those that have not as yet, the implications for our countries, whether we are classified as vulnerable economies or small island developing states, are unavoidable.

The likelihood of severe disruption to the global supply chains threatens other sectors as well as our collective financial and overall well-being.

My Executive Committee and I understand the concerns that many of you have, because we share them too. We urge you to adhere to the advice of the experts and to take all precautions to safeguard yourselves and your loved ones. Check on your football families, too.

Let us know how things are amongst your respective fraternities. We will also maintain regular contact with our members during this difficult time.

Let’s keep our indomitable Caribbean spirits ablaze, rally together, and keep the faith for a bright future.
