COUVA, Trinidad (July 28, 2025)—Academy Eagles from the Turks and Caicos Islands trounced Rovers SC from the U.S. Virgin Islands 5 -0 to nil in Group A of the 2025 CFU Club Shield at the Ato Boldon Stadium on Monday. The Eagles, buoyed by three points by default after Haiti’s AS Capoise were no-shows on Saturday, were propelled to the top of the Group in a tie with Academia Quintana from Puerto Rico. With eight goals, a +8 goal difference, and six points each, the deciding factor was Academia Quintana’s yellow card according to the fair play rules.

The Turks and Caicos Islands team went full force into attacking mode at the starting whistle. The opening goal came in the 14th minute from Academy Eagles' captain Anthony Stewart with a charging header into the goal, assisted by Maddox Zaidan.

Goal number two came in quick succession, in the 17th minute, when midfielder Junior Paul made his entrance onto the scoreboard with a beautiful header through the hands of goalkeeper Stefan Berkeley. Paul secured a hat-trick with additional goals in the 51st and 85th minutes.

Influential player Zaidan displayed an excellent level of football in the middle of the park, creating several goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates. Kyle Belizaire benefited from Zaidan's hard work when he secured the fourth goal of the match in the 74th minute of play.

Rovers SC struggled tremendously throughout the match after acquiring two red cards. This further weakened their ability to maneuver the pitch, giving the Academy Eagles an advantage.

The Turks and Caicos Islands outfit will face Group B winners Moca FC from the Dominican Republic in the first semifinal on Friday.
