COUVA, Trinidad (July 23, 2026) — Kemar Beckford scored twice as Slingerz FC cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over SWA Sharks on Thursday in Match 2 of the 2026 CFU Club Shield at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad.

SWA Sharks created the first clear opportunity of the match when forward Elton Charles broke through the Slingerz defense in the opening minutes. However, goalkeeper Denzil Smith reacted quickly, racing off his line to smother Charles' effort.

Beckford gave the Guyanese club the lead in the 10th minute, calmly slotting the ball past a stranded Dondy Corielan after making amends for missing an earlier chance.

Slingerz continued to dominate possession and doubled their advantage just before halftime. In the 44th minute, Beckford timed his late run perfectly to meet a cross from Solmon Austin, finishing from close range to send his side into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The Jamaal Shabazz-coached side remained in control throughout the second half, limiting SWA Sharks' attacking opportunities while continuing to dictate the tempo. Sharks’ head coach Jack Watson introduced several substitutions midway through the half in an attempt to spark a comeback, but the Turks and Caicos Islands outfit struggled to break down the disciplined Slingerz defense.

Slingerz put the result beyond doubt in the 75th minute when two substitutes combined for the third goal. Derrel Garcia delivered a cross that Neron Barrow met with a superb first-time finish.

Garcia then capped an impressive cameo by getting on the scoresheet himself in the 84th minute. The speedy winger beat the offside trap, rounded Corielan, and calmly rolled the ball into the empty net to complete the 4-0 victory.

The win sends Slingerz FC into the Round of 16, where they will face Trinidad and Tobago's Prison Services FC on July 25 at Hasely Crawford Stadium.
