Dublanc put two past Docs in Round One closing match
ARIMA, Trinidad (June 27, 2025)—Dublanc FC of Dominica ended their 2025 CFU Club Shield campaign on a positive note, securing their first win against Docs United, 2-1, in Group D at Larry Gomes Stadium on Tuesday.
The match was the last for both teams. The Dominicans finished fourth in the point standings, while Docs United came in last. Martinique’s Club Franciscain topped the group and will advance to Friday’s semifinal, where they will face Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados.
The teams displayed good offensive and defensive skills, although they had little to no success at scoring.
Second-half action came alive when Dublanc made their first breakthrough in the 54th minute. Captain Briel Thomas, with his tall stature, outjumped the defense line and collected the ball on his head for a powerful header into the back of the goal.
A powerful strike from midfielder McCorney Royer in the 73rd minute of play secured the second goal for Dublanc.
Super sub Jermaine Ricketts of Docs United reduced the score line margin when he scored the lone goal in the 79th minute.
Both teams will leave the competition having not advanced to the semifinals. Group winner Club Franciscain will advance to the semifinals.
