ARIMA, Trinidad (July 28, 2026) — Johnson Juedy's 66th-minute goal lifted Mount Pleasant FA to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over last year's runners-up, Weymouth Wales FC of Barbados, in their quarterfinal encounter on Tuesday at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima, Trinidad. The win sent the Jamaican side into the semifinals of the 2026 CFU Club Shield.

Juedy was on hand to fire home the rebound after goalkeeper Kishmar Primus initially denied Trayvone Reid, capping a dominant second-half spell by Mount Pleasant. The Theodore Whitmore-coached side then delivered a disciplined defensive display to withstand a late surge from Weymouth Wales and secure the victory.

Mount Pleasant made the brighter start to the match, troubling the Barbadian outfit with their quick tempo and attacking intent. Weymouth Wales weathered the early pressure before gradually growing into the contest and gaining more possession.

With the match evenly poised, Weymouth Wales fashioned the first clear opportunity midway through the opening half. After a slick passing move, Rashad Smith collected the ball on the right and delivered a dangerous cross, but Hadan Holligan could not get on the end of it.

Both teams continued to trade attacks, but it was Mount Pleasant goalkeeper Shaquan Davis who was first called into serious action in the 35th minute. Diving low to his right, Davis tipped a deflected effort destined for the top corner around the post. From the resulting corner kick, Smith escaped his marker but headed over the crossbar.

Two minutes later, Primus showcased his quality with an excellent double save, first denying Rafa Intervil before reacting quickly to keep out Daniel Green on the rebound and preserve the deadlock.

Weymouth Wales threatened again just before halftime when Jaheim Neblett unleashed a powerful strike from distance that sailed narrowly over the crossbar. It proved to be the final meaningful chance of the half as the teams went into the break level at 0-0.

Mount Pleasant emerged from the interval on the front foot and should have opened the scoring in the 57th minute. Substitute Christojaye Daley danced past two defenders before sliding an inviting pass across the face of goal, but it rolled agonizingly inches beyond the outstretched boot of Daniel Green.

The breakthrough finally arrived nine minutes later. Reid's effort was well saved by Primus, but Juedy reacted quickest to the loose ball and emphatically buried the rebound to give Mount Pleasant a deserved 1-0 lead.

Green nearly doubled the advantage moments later, but his effort from inside the penalty area took a deflection and flew over the crossbar.

In search of an equalizer, Weymouth Wales adopted a more direct approach and poured forward in the closing stages, putting the Mount Pleasant defense under sustained pressure. However, the Jamaican side remained organized and resolute, frustrating every attempt to find a way through.

Substitute Nickalia Fuller almost made an immediate impact in the 86th minute. Seconds after entering the match, Fuller was gifted possession with Primus well off his line but was unable to keep his effort on target.

Mount Pleasant comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to complete a disciplined 1-0 victory and book their place in the semifinals.
