Julian Terron Hat-Trick Powers Metropolitan FA into CFU Club Shield Quarterfinals
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (July 26, 2026) — Julian Terron scored a brilliant first-half hat-trick, leading Puerto Rico's Metropolitan FA to a commanding 4–0 victory over St. Vincent and the Grenadines' North Leeward Predators on Sunday at the Larry Gomes Stadium, securing a place in the 2026 CFU Club Shield quarterfinals.
Terron wasted little time putting Metropolitan ahead, opening the scoring in just the second minute to set the tone for a dominant display.
He doubled the advantage in the 16th minute after Metropolitan capitalized on a poorly cleared throw-in. The initial clearance fell just outside the penalty area, and the ball was worked back into the box, where Terron unleashed a powerful right-footed strike that left goalkeeper Samir Bristol rooted to the spot.
The Predators, who advanced to the Round of 16 after defeating SCSA Eagles, responded positively despite the early setback. Koby Mingot came closest to reducing the deficit, but Metropolitan goalkeeper Josue Ayala brilliantly saved his well-struck effort from inside the penalty area.
Metropolitan continued to dictate possession with crisp passing and intelligent movement off the ball. Terron remained a constant threat, exploiting spaces behind the defense, although the Vincentian side managed to keep the scoreline within reach for much of the half.
Deep into first-half stoppage time, Terron spectacularly completed his hat-trick. Latching onto a loose ball, he surged toward goal, weaved past three defenders, and calmly slotted a low finish beyond Bristol to give Metropolitan a commanding 3–0 halftime lead.
North Leeward Predators made changes at the break in an effort to spark a comeback, but although they tightened up defensively, they struggled to retain possession and create meaningful attacking opportunities.
Metropolitan sealed the victory late in the match through substitutes Hector Ramos and Jorge Luis Rivera. Ramos threaded a perfectly weighted pass into Rivera's path, and the forward reached the ball ahead of the advancing Bristol before deftly poking his finish around the goalkeeper to complete the 4–0 scoreline.
The convincing victory sends Metropolitan FA into the CFU Club Shield quarterfinals, while North Leeward Predators exit the competition after an impressive tournament run.
