Police FC wins one for the road over SCSA Eagles
PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (July 29, 2025)—Police FC of Trinidad and Tobago trounced SCSA Eagles of St. Maarten in a Group C parting encounter of the 2025 CFU Club Shield on Tuesday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.
SCSA Eagles started the match flat and struggled tremendously to outplay Police. In contrast, Police capitalized on every opportunity, attacking from every angle of the field.
Joshua Sitney opened the goal scoring in the 25th minute with a one-on-one with goalkeeper Chandro Wilkin, comfortably placing the ball in the back of the net.
SCSA Eagles continued to struggle defensively, leaving several pockets open for the Police attackers. Due to many defensive errors, Police secured their second goal in the 33rd minute from a one-two combination play between Kareem Freitas and Kadeem Hutchinson, leaving the goal wide open for Hutchinson.
Freitas, eager to stamp his name on the scoresheet, succeeded in the 54th minute after receiving an assist from captain Jabari Mitchell. He soon secured his second goal in the 63rd minute due to terrible defending by the Eagles' defense line.
Khalid Tavernier, an industrious player going forward, pulled back a goal for SCSA Eagles in the 69th minute with excellent dribbling skills and his incredible resilience.
At the 74th minute, SCSA Eagles appeared to have given up as the defense became almost non-existent. This made it extremely easy for Joevin Jones to recover the ball from a goalkeeper error and walk the ball straight into the goal.
Goalkeeper Wilkin continued to make substandard decisions, and a poor tackle in the box awarded Police a penalty and the keeper a yellow card.
Joevin Jones stepped up to the penalty mark and confidently buried the ball in the far right corner of the goal, bringing the total to 6 goals.
Police finished fourth in the group, ahead of fifth-placed SCSA Eagles.
Group winners Weymouth Wales FC advanced to the semifinals on Friday, where they will play Group D leaders Club Franciscain.
