PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (July 26, 2025)—Puerto Rico's Academia Quintana FC opened their 2025 CFU Club Shield campaign, defeating the US Virgin Islands' Rovers SC 5-0 when they met at the Hasely Crawford Stadium on Saturday.

Instant adrenaline fueled the Puerto Ricans at the sound of the whistle, giving them an early dominance in the match. Displaying a remarkable level of tactical awareness, ball possession, and positioning on the pitch, Academia Quintana made it a difficult task for Rovers SC to establish stability.

Academia Quintana wasted no time with shots to the goal, but with the outstanding keeping by captain Terrence Jones Jr, Rovers SC managed to stay at bay. That luck, however, ran out in the 20th minute of play when skipper Jackie Marrero secured the first goal of the match.

Rovers, undeterred, gained momentum and became more forceful on the ball, giving goalkeeper Mario Oronoz a slight challenge. Academia later in the 37th minute of play extended their lead with a beautifully timed header from defender Tomas Fernandez into the back of the net.

In the 57th minute of play, Academia Quintana's player, Adrian Faisca, secured the 3rd goal of the match, further crushing the hearts of the Rovers SC team.

Substitute player Wilfredo Rivero secured the 4th goal for his team in the 71st minute, while Kevin Hernandez brought the curtains down with the final goal in the 73rd minute.
