PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (July 26, 2026) — Ruensly Leuteria scored twice as Curaçao's CVV Inter Willemstad powered into the quarterfinals of the 2026 CFU Club Shield with a convincing 5–2 victory over Grenada's St. John's SC on Sunday at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Fresh off an opening-day win over Dublanc FC, St. John's started brightly and applied early pressure, but they could not break down Inter Willemstad's organized defense.

Inter Willemstad gradually settled into the contest and opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Capitalizing on a misplaced pass, Leuteria curled a composed right-footed finish past goalkeeper Shaquille Charles.

The Curaçao side doubled its advantage just five minutes later. Jurensley Martina beat his defender with a clever bit of skill before squaring the ball for Davidson Rosa, who tapped it into an empty net.

St. John's pulled one back in the 28th minute after goalkeeper Nasser Lahham mishandled a low cross, enabling Sherwin Joseph to capitalize on the mistake and score.

Inter Willemstad responded immediately. Leuteria restored the two-goal cushion in the 33rd minute, firing a powerful shot into the top-left corner for his second goal of the match.

Inter added a fourth before halftime in the 39th minute when Martina reacted quickest to turn home after Rosa's initial effort was misdirected. The halftime whistle sounded with Inter Willemstad comfortably ahead 4–1.

St. John's returned for the second half looking to mount a comeback, but those hopes were dealt a major blow when Kimron Marshall was sent off, reducing the Grenadian side to 10 men.

With both a numerical and a scoreboard advantage, Inter Willemstad controlled possession and dictated the tempo of the game. Their dominance was rewarded again in the 69th minute when substitute Johan Petronilla Lopez finished from close range after the St. John's defense had blocked attempts by Leuteria and Quinton Christina.

Despite the setback, St. John's continued to battle and scored a second goal in stoppage time. Dwight Joseph poked home after a goalmouth scramble to reduce the deficit, but it proved only a consolation.

The final whistle confirmed a convincing 5–2 victory for Inter Willemstad, who advanced impressively to the CFU Club Shield quarterfinals.
