PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (July 25, 2026) — Guyana's Slingerz FC edged Trinidad and Tobago's Prison Services FC 4-3 in a thrilling contest on Saturday to secure their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 CFU Club Shield.

Playing at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, the teams were evenly matched in the opening stages as both sides looked to establish control.

The deadlock was broken in the 17th minute by Kemar Beckford. A poor clearance by Prison Services goalkeeper Jabari Gray gifted possession to Slingerz inside the penalty area, and Beckford made no mistake, driving a powerful right-footed shot into the bottom-right corner.

Minutes later, Beckford had an excellent chance to double Slingerz's advantage but fired straight at Gray from close range. The missed opportunity proved costly as Prison Services equalized in the 32nd minute through Ronell Paul. Paul displayed excellent skill, controlling a bouncing ball, shrugging off his marker, and calmly slotting past advancing goalkeeper Denzil Smith.

The hosts completed the turnaround just six minutes later. Slingerz failed to deal with an out-swinging corner, allowing Ezekiel Kesar to control the ball at the back post before curling his effort into the roof of the net, giving the hosts a 2-1 lead.

At the other end, Beckford was again denied when he squandered a clear opportunity in first-half stoppage time, leaving Prison Services to take their one-goal advantage into the break.

Prison Services began the second half on the front foot and looked poised to extend their lead, but Smith produced a series of important saves to keep Slingerz within striking distance.

His efforts were rewarded in the 59th minute when Beckford redeemed himself, rising highest to power home a header from Neron Barrow's cross and level the match at 2-2.

Barrow then turned from provider to goal scorer in the 67th minute. Timing his run perfectly, the winger raced onto a through ball before placing a composed finish low to the left of Gray to restore Slingerz's advantage.

As Prison Services pushed numbers forward in search of another equalizer, they were caught on the counterattack deep into stoppage time. Substitute Derrel Garcia put the result seemingly beyond doubt, finishing clinically to make it 4-2.

The drama was not over, however. Prison Services was awarded a penalty in the fourth minute of stoppage time. Kevon Williams struck the crossbar with his initial attempt, but the kick was ordered to be retaken after Smith was adjudged to have moved off his line. Williams converted at the second attempt, blasting his effort into the roof of the net to cut the deficit to one.

That proved to be the final action of an entertaining encounter, as Slingerz held on for a hard-fought 4-3 victory to book their place in the quarterfinals of the 2026 CFU Club Shield.
