Suriname secured a thrilling, at-home, 6-0 win over Nicaragua in Concacaf Nations League Group D of League B on Sunday with Gleofilo Vlijter scoring four goals. His first two came in the 9th and 11th minutes. Donnegy Fer made it 3-0 in the 13th minute. Vlijter’s hat trick and Suriname’s fourth goal came in the 30th minute. He then picked up his fourth in the 65th minute while Ivenzo Comvalius got on the scoresheet in the 85th minute.
Playing in Belize, Grenada downed Belize 2-1 in Group A of League B. Belize took the lead in the 24th minute when Deon McCauley’s header hit the mark. Arthur Paterson scored the equalizer in the 55th minute and the match was heading to a draw until Jamal Charles, with less than a minute left in the game, found the back of the net in 90+3.
Over in St. Kitts, the St. Kitts and Nevis team and French Guiana played to a 2-2 draw in Group B of League B. Miguel Haabo sent the visitors ahead in the 23rd minute and took the lead into the half time break. Theo Warton levelled the score in the 50th but Les Yana Dokos had a fast reply for French Guiana when he converted on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Rowan Liburd brought the match back to even keel in the 75th, with neither team able to break the deadlock.
St. Vincent and the Grenadines defeated Dominica 1-0 in Group D of League B. Azinho Solomon put his team ahead in 45+2. The teams returned from the break trying hard, but no one else managed to score.
The Cayman Islands pulled off a 3-2 win over Barbados in their top-of-the-table Group A of League C match in the Cayman Islands. Michael Martin wasted no time in getting the home side rolling with a goal in the fifth minute. The visitors drew even in the 13th with an Akeem Hill header. On the other side of half time, in minute 70, Jonah Ebanks put the Cayman Islands ahead 2-1 and, again, Barbados were quick to respond via captain Rashad Jules in the 74th minute. But the celebration was short-lived as Jorel Bellafonte sent the Caymanians ahead, this time for good, in the 75th.
In their Group A of League C match, the United States Virgin Islands claimed a 2-1 win over Sint Martin when the teams met in Anguilla. Aaron Dennis scored a quick brace just past the two-minute mark and again in the 5’. Wilfried Dalmat gave Sint Martin a goal in the 78th and the USVI were able to hang on for the win.
Bermuda reversed their fortunes by defeating Panama 2-0 in their Group B of League A game. Nahki Wells scored the opener in minute 22 and then doubled the lead in the 61st. The win came after Bermuda went down 4-1 to the same side in their CNL opener.
