Emphatic wins for Curacao, Guadeloupe and Montserrat

Curacao scored an historic 1-0 victory over Haiti in their Group D of League A Concacaf Nation’s League match in Willemstad, Curacao on Saturday. The victory marked the first time in 69 years that Curacao defeated Haiti. The goal came in the 70th minute when Elson Hooi beat the Haitian custodian.

Elsewhere, Cuba went down 6-0 to Canada in their Group A of League A encounter in Toronto, Canada. Canada’s goal scorers were Junior Hoilett with a hat trick, Jonathan David, Jonathan Osorio and Doneil Henry.

In Montserrat, the home team got past the Dominican Republic 2-1 in the Group B of League B match. Dominican Republic went ahead in the 23rd minute with a Joshua Garcia strike. Montserrat had a near immediate reply when James Comley netted a header in the 29th minute. Adrian Clifton accounted for the Montserratians’ game winner in the 65’.

Playing on the road, St. Lucia lost to the home team, El Salvador, 3-0 in their Group B of League B game. The El Salvadorans got off the mark in the 7th minute on a Narciso Orellana strike. Darwin Ceren doubled the tally in the 73rd when he scored a penalty, and Nelson Bonilla added another goal in the 87th minute.

Guadeloupe downed Sint Martin 5-1 in Group D of League C on home turf. Dimitri Ramothe scored in the 5th minute. Florian David got on the scoreboard in 26th. Antony Baron, 48’, and David again in the 61st before Gerwin Lake pulled back a goal for the visitors in the 83rd minute. Ronan Hauterville brought up Guadeloupe’s tally in the dying moments of the game.
