Haiti and Jamaica end CWOQ on a high note

Wins for Haiti and Jamaica rounded out the performance of the Caribbean teams in the just-concluded Concacaf Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship which saw Canada, Costa Rica, Mexico and the United States advance to the semifinals.
Playing in Edinburg, Texas against fellow Caribbean contenders St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica romped to a 7-0 win. The victory was Jamaica’s first ever at CWOQ and their only one of the qualifiers.
One night earlier, in Houston, Texas, Haiti, too, ensured that they went home with a win, shutting out Panama 6-0.
The semifinals are set for February 7 at Dignity Health Sports Park, in Los Angeles, CA.
The first of the two semifinals, scheduled for 7:00 pm ET (4:00 pm local), will see Costa Rica (Group A runner-up) face off against two-time Olympic bronze medalists and Group B winners, Canada at 7 pm ET.
Later that day, Group A winner and current World Champions United States, will take on Group B runner-up Mexico. The match is scheduled for 10:00 pm ET (7:00 pm local).
The two semifinal winners will qualify for the competitions final and the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Tokyo 2020. The championship match, also to be played in Los Angeles, is scheduled for Sunday, February 9 (6:00 pm ET / 3:00 pm local).
