SANTO DOMINGO, Dominica Republic (February 28, 2020) – Puerto Rico and Cayman Islands secured wins in Groups D and F respectively to book the final two spots in the Round of 16 of the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship on the final match day of the group phase on the February 27, 2020.

In a keenly contested match-up in Group D, Belercia Oquendo’s lone goal in the 77^th minute secured a 1-0 win for Puerto Rico against Nicaragua when they played at Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez, Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, a brace in the 47^th and 82^nd minutes from Alexia Bromfield secured a 3-2 win for the Cayman Islands over St. Kitts and Nevis in the final match of Group F at the Panamericano stadium, San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.

As early as the 4^th minute Iyanla Baily-Williams gave St. Kitts and Nevis an early lead until Molly Kehoe equalized in the 17^th minute for the Cayman Islands. Cayman Islands then went on to take a 2-1 lead with Alexia Bromfield’s first goal in the 47^th minute until Zonia Marshall found the equalizer for St. Kitts & Nevis in the 70^th minute. However, Bromfield went on to secure the victory for Cayman Islands with an 82^nd minute goal.

In other matches, Mexico defeated Guyana 3-0 in Group D’s final match while Haiti delivered another impressive display of scoring power against Trinidad and Tobago, winning 7-0 in Group F.

Haiti’s win was secured by a hat-trick from Melchie Dumornay (6’, 16’, 60’), while Valentina Ornis (21’ and 39’) and Florsie Joseph (22’ and 52’) each secured a brace en route to victory.
